We are heartbroken to share some devastating news about our beautiful Boon Ma.
In the early hours of the morning, just one day after we arrived home with our newest rescue, Sweetheart, an unexpected and frightening incident occurred. Boon Ma collapsed suddenly.
We found her very early in the morning lying on the ground, unable to stand. It was an incredibly distressing sight, and our hearts sank instantly. From what we can tell, Boon Ma appears to have stumbled during the night and struck her head against a nearby tree. There was heavy bleeding, and the damage to the tree itself was clearly visible, indicating the force of the impact.
Mornings are quite chilly here at this time of year, so our first priority was to keep her warm and comfortable. We carefully covered Boon Ma with a thick blanket to protect her from the cold and to help stabilize her body temperature. We also fed her plenty of ripe bananas, hoping the natural sugars and energy would give her some strength during this critical moment.
When it became clear that Boon Ma could not get back onto her feet on her own, we immediately sought help from the local village and hired an excavator. With extreme care and patience, the team worked slowly and gently to help lift her upright. Every movement was deliberate, ensuring that we caused no further injury or distress. Once Boon Ma was strong enough to stand and walk cautiously, we carefully guided her to the medical area.
As soon as she arrived, fluids were administered right away to support her circulation and hydration. While the accident itself was deeply concerning, our worries did not end there. Over recent weeks, Boon Ma has shown signs of sudden and noticeable weight loss, something that had already been on our radar. Combined with this collapse and head injury, it raised serious concerns that there may be an underlying health issue contributing to her weakened condition.
After careful consideration and consultation, the decision was made to transport Boon Ma to the hospital as a matter of urgency. We feel it is essential that she undergo comprehensive blood work and further diagnostic testing to better understand what is happening inside her body. Determining whether there are underlying medical conditions is critical so that she can receive the most appropriate and timely treatment possible.
Boon Ma was clearly shaken by the accident. She appeared disoriented, exhausted, and emotionally distressed, and seeing her in this state has been incredibly difficult for everyone who loves her. Boon Ma is a gentle, resilient soul who has already endured so much in her life, and witnessing her struggle now is truly heartbreaking.
Throughout this entire process, Boon Ma has not been alone. Her devoted and loving mahout, Boo Tip, has traveled with her to the hospital and remains by her side. His presence is a great comfort to her, and the bond they share is evident in every quiet moment of reassurance and care. Knowing that Boo Tip is with her brings us some solace during this incredibly worrying time.
