Milena is just a young woman, yet her body has faced more suffering than most endure in a lifetime. Currently, she is in strict isolation, separated from the outside world, her body ravaged by illness and complications. A fistula has developed in her small intestine, leading to food leaking directly into her abdominal cavity. The pain is relentless and unbearable, compounded by her weakened body being attacked by harmful bacteria.
Her mother, Ms. Pajor, remains by her side day and night, witnessing her daughter’s battle for survival and feeling utterly helpless. “She’s in so much pain,” she expresses through tears. “Every hour feels like a lifetime. I just want her to live…”
A Long Battle Against an Unforgiving Disease
Milena’s ordeal began several years ago with what appeared to be minor digestive issues—fatigue, stomach pain, and unexplained weight loss. However, her symptoms escalated until doctors diagnosed her with Crohn’s disease, a severe and chronic condition affecting the digestive system.
For years, Milena bravely faced numerous treatments—steroids, biologics, special diets, and countless hospital visits. Yet, nothing provided lasting relief. After trying a new biologic therapy, disaster struck: following the third dose, Milena suffered anaphylactic shock. Her allergies intensified over time, leading to reactions to more medications, even surgical stitches.
Despite every setback, she continued to fight. However, her condition has significantly worsened in recent months.
Endless Surgeries, Endless Pain
In the last few weeks alone, Milena has undergone multiple laparoscopic surgeries. Her intestines, severely damaged by years of inflammation, have failed to heal. Each surgery brought new hope, only to end in disappointment.
Then, the unimaginable occurred: her healthy small intestine ruptured again. Food began leaking into her abdominal cavity, resulting in infection and excruciating pain. Concurrently, Milena developed pneumonia and severe wound healing issues. Her immune system, weakened by years of illness and treatment, could no longer defend itself.
Doctors admit they have rarely encountered such a complex and devastating case. The medication imported from abroad—her last available treatment—has failed. The medical team now fears that only one option remains: a stomach and intestine transplant, a highly risky and intricate procedure.
A Mother’s Hope
“I can’t give up,” says Ms. Pajor. “She’s my only child. She means everything to me. I’ll do whatever it takes to save her—even if it means going abroad, finding doctors with more experience, anything. But I can’t do it alone.”
To be with her daughter full-time, Milena’s mother had to quit her job, leaving the family in a dire financial situation. They’ve sold what they could, borrowed money for treatments, and covered months of hospital expenses—but now, they have nothing left.
They urgently need funds to continue Milena’s treatment, pay for further medical consultations, transport, specialized tests, and—if possible—arrange for treatment abroad.
