Since the day my daughter, Martynka, entered the world, my life has revolved around the relentless effort to safeguard her, ensuring she receives the love and care essential for her growth. Arriving prematurely at 34 weeks, she faced a multitude of challenges from the very start. The initial months were dominated by hospital visits, tests, and consultations as we fought for her health. While I take joy in watching her grow, each new hurdle brings a fresh wave of anxiety and concern.
Martynka’s journey commenced with complications immediately after her birth. She experienced respiratory failure, congenital anemia, and an atrial septal defect, all of which demanded urgent care. Those early days were fraught with uncertainty as we tackled one issue after another, praying for the strength to overcome each obstacle. The most harrowing moment came when doctors identified a hematoma in her brain. The thought of potential lasting damage was unbearable.

Fortunately, doctors later determined that the hematoma had resolved on its own. However, they cautioned us that it might have left behind lingering effects, necessitating ongoing monitoring by both a neurologist and a cardiologist. These early health challenges left us with more questions than answers, but we were resolute in our commitment to provide her with the best chance for a healthy future.
As time passed, additional concerns began to surface. Specialists suspect that Martynka may be on the autism spectrum. Although she is a lively and cheerful child, her social interactions with peers are limited. She also faces delays in speech development and struggles with basic tasks like chewing food properly. Observing her confront these challenges fills me with a blend of pride for her resilience and worry for what lies ahead.
What weighs heavily on my heart is her frequent illnesses. She is more vulnerable to infections, which often escalate into pneumonia or bronchitis, complicating her already delicate health. As a mother, it’s impossible to articulate the constant anxiety that accompanies watching your child struggle and feeling powerless to shield her from every illness and setback.

Despite these challenges, Martynka remains a radiant presence in our lives. Her joy is contagious, and her smile serves as a daily reminder of her strength. Nevertheless, she requires intensive support to navigate the obstacles ahead. This includes specialist visits, rehabilitation, and most urgently, the WES (Whole Exome Sequencing) test to further explore her condition and clarify her diagnosis. Unfortunately, the financial burden of these tests and treatments exceeds our means.
The WES test is vital for gaining a deeper understanding of Martynka’s condition and providing us with the best opportunity to create a personalized treatment plan. The test alone costs several thousand zÅ‚oty, and without it, we risk overlooking critical aspects of her condition that could be essential for her treatment and development. The sooner we can secure the necessary tests and initiate therapy, the better her chances of reaching her full physical and intellectual potential.

This is why I reach out to you, seeking your continued support for my daughter. Your previous contributions to Martynka’s treatment and rehabilitation have been invaluable, and I will always be grateful for your kindness and generosity. Today, I ask for your assistance once more. We need your help to fund Martynka’s ongoing treatment, necessary specialist visits, and the WES test that will provide us with the answers we urgently need.
As a mother, I would do anything to ensure my daughter has the chance to lead a happy, healthy life. Every step we take and every challenge we overcome brings us closer to her realizing her full potential. However, I cannot do this alone. Your continued support will not only help us provide Martynka with the care she requires but will also bring us closer to a brighter future for her.
Thank you from the depths of my heart for all you have done and for any assistance you can offer now. Martynka’s journey is not an easy one, but with your help, we can make it a little more manageable. Together, we can give her the opportunity she deserves to live a fulfilling and joyful life.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Paulina, Martynka’s Mother
