It started as something minor — a simple broken leg. That’s what everyone believed. However, for 11-year-old Krzyś (Christopher Leonard) and his mother, that moment marked the onset of an unimaginable nightmare.
In April 2024, doctors diagnosed what appeared to be a typical fibula fracture. They placed his leg in a cast and reassured his mother that, with time and rest, he would recover. For a boy who loved running, laughing, and playing outdoors with friends, six weeks felt like an eternity — but he remained patient.
Then the pain intensified.

His leg swelled, and his nights were filled with tears and restlessness. Something was terribly wrong. Yet each orthopedic visit brought confusion rather than answers. X-rays, consultations, and new opinions — none provided the clarity his mother desperately needed.
Finally, in August, after months of uncertainty, doctors ordered oncological tests. His mother prayed for good news, holding onto hope even as fear began to close in. But the results shattered that fragile hope.
Ewing’s sarcoma.
A malignant bone tumor.
The words were incomprehensible. “How could this happen?” she whispered. “He’s just a child.”

In that moment, life came to a halt.
From that day forward, everything revolved around hospitals, chemotherapy, and survival. Krzyś was admitted to an oncology clinic in Warsaw, where doctors initiated aggressive treatment to combat the cancer that had invaded his leg. The sessions were long and painful, leaving him exhausted, pale, and fragile. Yet even as his strength waned, his eyes still shone with determination.
His mother never left his side. She watched as nurses connected IV drips, as her little boy — once full of energy — now lay still, his small hand gripping hers. Each chemotherapy cycle brought new side effects: nausea, weakness, hair loss, and endless fatigue. But it also brought something else — the will to live.
In January 2025, Krzyś underwent a complex, life-saving surgery. Surgeons removed a section of his fibula, rotated it 180 degrees, and transplanted blood vessels to reconstruct what the tumor had destroyed. For hours, his mother waited in silent agony, praying for just one thing — to see her son smile again.

When the doctors finally emerged and announced that the operation had been successful, she broke down in tears — tears of relief, gratitude, and unspoken fear for what lay ahead.
Now, months later, Krzyś continues chemotherapy and radiotherapy, while also beginning a long and demanding rehabilitation process. Each day is a battle — not just against the disease, but against pain, fatigue, and the harsh reality that childhood has been replaced by hospital corridors and medical machines.
For his mother, life has become a test of endurance. As a single mom, she balances caring for Krzyś and his younger brother, managing daily tasks while living with the constant ache of worry. “He should be playing soccer or riding his bike,” she says softly. “Instead, he’s fighting for his life.”

Despite everything, Krzyś refuses to give up. Even on his weakest days, he jokes with doctors, draws superheroes on scraps of paper, and talks about the things he’ll do once he’s healthy again — going back to school, playing with friends, running. Dreams that every child deserves.
But to make those dreams a reality, he needs help.
The costs of treatment are overwhelming. His mother must cover clinic visits, rehabilitation, specialized medications, orthopedic equipment, and — just as importantly — home modifications to ensure Krzyś can live safely and comfortably. The house needs a ramp, adapted bathroom, and accessible room for his wheelchair.
For one person, it’s too much. But for many hearts, it’s possible.
“I’ve always believed in kindness,” his mother says.
“And now, kindness is the only thing that can save my son.”

Every contribution — every donation, every message of support — becomes a piece of hope, a small miracle in a life that desperately needs one. Each bit helps Krzyś take another step toward recovery, toward walking again, toward being a child again.
His fight is far from over, but his courage is extraordinary. He’s endured pain that would break most adults, yet he still greets each nurse with a shy smile. His bravery reminds everyone who meets him that life, no matter how fragile, is worth fighting for.
So please — if you can — help Krzyś continue his fight. Help him heal, help him grow, help him return to the world outside hospital walls.
Because behind every statistic, every medical report, there is a little boy who just wants to live — and a mother who refuses to let go of hope.
Together, we can ensure that Krzyś’s story doesn’t end in sorrow, but in strength, healing, and the promise of brighter days ahead.
