A Mother's Unyielding Love: Advocating for Ania’s Future

Ania was born far too early, at just 28 weeks of pregnancy. Her tiny body, weighing less than 1 kilogram, fought against the odds from the very first moment she entered the world. In the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, her parents stood by helplessly, watching their baby girl battle for every breath, every heartbeat, unsure if she would make it. The days were filled with moments of hope and heartbreak as their daughter faced a multitude of challenges: a heart defect, retinopathy, and the constant ups and downs of a premature birth.

But Ania was a fighter. Her heart, though fragile, was strong, and she clung to life despite the hurdles she faced. After two long months in the NICU, she was finally able to come home. But the fight was far from over.

At just six months old, Ania’s parents received another crushing blow: she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The diagnosis left them reeling, but they weren’t ready to give up. As any parent would, they threw themselves into rehabilitation and multidisciplinary treatment. But the storm wasn’t over.

A few days later, Ania was hospitalized once again — this time, for seizures. The diagnosis was devastating: drug-resistant epilepsy. From that moment on, the hospital became their home.

Ania’s body and mind were under siege. The seizures took a heavy toll — she stopped babbling, stopped smiling, and stopped making eye contact. Her once vibrant spirit was locked in a body that refused to cooperate. For the first time, her parents felt a crushing weight of helplessness.

Despite the overwhelming challenges, Ania’s parents refused to give up. They fought for every moment of progress, and after seven long months of battling epilepsy, Ania’s condition stabilized. It wasn’t a cure, but it was a chance — a chance to start focusing on rehabilitation.

Now, at 2 years old, Ania continues to fight every single day. She can’t roll over, support her head, sit, crawl, walk, or speak. The side effects of the antiepileptic medication she takes to manage the seizures have made eating a struggle — she needs specialized formula and supplements to get the nutrition she needs.

Yet, despite everything, Ania is still the joy of her parents’ lives. She smiles, even if it’s not often. She’s surrounded by love, and each moment of progress, no matter how small, is celebrated as a victory.

Ania’s rehabilitation is intense — she receives six days of therapy every week. Each day is filled with physical rehabilitation, including the Vojta method and CME therapy, as well as vision therapy, feeding therapy, hand therapy, and sensory integration therapy. Her parents travel long distances to ensure she receives the best care possible, attending most sessions privately.

In addition to rehabilitation, Ania uses orthotics and is regularly upright in a standing frame. She wears glasses and requires a wheelchair, specialized car seat, and numerous other items to support her development. The costs of these therapies and equipment add up quickly — tens of thousands of złoty each year.

Despite the enormous financial burden, Ania’s parents remain committed to giving her the best chance at a normal life. They dream of the day when Ania will be able to hold her head up on her own — a dream that, with the right support, can be realized.

“Every day is a challenge,” her mother says, “but we believe that with your help, Ania can reach milestones we once thought impossible.”

And that’s why they’re reaching out. They need help. Without your support, they cannot afford the extensive therapies and treatments that could change Ania’s life. They believe in their daughter’s potential — and they know that with the right resources, she can one day stand, walk, and speak.

Every donation, every share, every bit of support brings them one step closer to that dream.

Ania’s parents are not asking for a miracle — just the opportunity for their daughter to grow, to learn, and to experience the simple joys of childhood. With your help, she can have a brighter, healthier future.

Please, join them in this fight for Ania’s future. Your kindness gives her the hope she needs to thrive.
