Melania Trump Denies Rumors That Barron Applied to Harvard

First Lady Melania Trump has denied social media rumors claiming that Barron Trump once applied to Harvard University but was rejected.

“Barron did not apply to Harvard. Any suggestion that my son, or anyone on his behalf, submitted an application to Harvard is false,”
the First Lady said in a statement released on May 27.

The statement came after unverified posts spread online alleging that Barron, the youngest son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, had applied to the prestigious university but was turned down.

Harvard University’s admissions office has not commented on the rumors.

A photo from Reuters shows Barron and Melania Trump attending Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., on January 20.

At 19 years old, Barron is currently studying at New York University’s Stern School of Business, one of the nation’s top business schools. In December 2024, Melania shared that her son’s college experience is quite different from that of ordinary students.

“He’s very strong and fully aware that his circumstances are not like other kids’,” she said.

The rumor about Barron’s supposed Harvard application surfaced amid escalating tensions between Donald Trump and the university. On May 22, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revoked Harvard’s authorization under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), an immediate decision that prevents the university from enrolling international students on student visas.

In response, Harvard filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, calling the move a “blatant violation” of the U.S. Constitution and federal law, claiming it caused “immediate and severe harm” to the school and its international students.

A U.S. federal judge has since issued a temporary injunction blocking the Trump administration’s decision while a hearing is scheduled to take place later this week.
