Initially set for pacemaker insertion and pulmonary artery banding, these surgeries were postponed due to his delicate state. Finally, on June 25th, Bruno underwent a complex operation, but seeing him connected to numerous wires and machines, his tiny body swollen from the surgery, was heart-wrenching. It was a sight no parent could ever be ready for.
Ongoing Struggles and Small Miracles
Since then, Bruno has been under constant medical supervision, relying on strong medications just to survive. His condition is closely monitored by cardiologists, and we have consulted specialists from all over Poland. However, despite the dedication of our doctors, Bruno’s health has continued to decline, and we recently faced another life-threatening procedure—tightening the pulmonary artery band. Each surgery feels like a gamble, with uncertainty about whether our son will survive or what condition he will be in when he wakes up. The anxiety is unbearable.
Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and Bruno’s condition stabilized. However, the doctors have made it clear—this is merely a temporary solution. Bruno’s heart remains critically weak, and his only hope now lies in a specialized double-switch surgery. This highly intricate procedure has only been performed once in Poland. The only place where success is possible is a clinic in Boston, but the cost of this surgery is staggering.
A Race Against Time
The doctors in Poland have done everything possible to extend Bruno’s life. They’ve given him a fighting chance, but they’ve also told us plainly—without the double-switch surgery in Boston, there’s no hope for Bruno. Without it, his life will be tragically cut short, and we will have to say goodbye far too soon. We cannot let this happen. We refuse to give up on our son.
